However, it will take a while for you to get away from the daily grind of teaching with intermittent lessons. Do you know what that means? You're talking about everyday lessons that might teach a skill, and maybe those skills fit into units based on a topic or theme, but each lesson works independently and can function without being embraced in a unit that ties everything together in one "learning story" unit.
But you get bored, and you worry your students will too. Teaching with Project-Based Learning is the difference between the atmosphere at water boom and the atmosphere at your school. You love a great slide, but decorating them needs some serious work. You are amazed by the appearance of the existing rides, but they built them not once. There, you are immersed in the story of every trip since you entered the queue. The walls, the ceiling, and the ground you step on as you advance into the actual journey, all contribute to the end result. Why don't you apply the chemistry that you feel when you travel to Bogor, Bromo, Malang, and Bali to your locale? Starting next semester, try these nifty suggestions and feel the difference. From now on, avoid your "bela" learning style and gradually make it like your fun journey.
Teaching with Project Based Learning is almost the same as other approaches. It's like presenting a lesson in a fairy tale - a story about a problem to be solved or an activity to be developed. Learning occurs all the way to solution presentation. Collaborate internally and or externally in class.

After all, using Project Based Learning is not about writing a school accreditation report pursuing the highest grade. This is not about (let alone) good RPP bundles but implemented only under supervision. It's about using what you know about the situations you learn about and then creating your own. This is not about a high-cost, prestigious proposal on the occasion of your school anniversary. This is also not a personal photo that is 'posted standing and commented on by students running' let alone someone to respect. These are not polished designs, proposals, plans, or approaches to engineering but engineering learning to happen. This is designing your own monument, and persuasively forming a committee to build it with your students.
Project Based Learning is usually based on the following elements:
- Roleplay
- Real-world and Real-world scenario
- Mixed writing genres
- Several genres of reading
- Authentic assessment
- Authentic viewers
- Real-world skills are brought into the classroom
- A unit that assesses multiple skills
- Units that require research and understanding of a wide range of student elective subjects
- Collaboration
- Multiple communication methods (writing, spoken speaking, visual presentation, publishing, etc.)
Allow me to personify for a moment: Project Based Learning is concerned with a mission to educate all. Project-Based Learning never forgets that one of the main tasks is to prepare students for the predictable future. Project Based Learning knows that students are not standardized, they are not learning in a standardized way, and that students cannot be assessed in a standardized way if you are to drive innovation. Project-Based Learning keeps a check on whether it's trendy standards or independent curriculum packages.
PBL doesn't ask you to change your content, why are you hesitating? It asks you to create a vehicle to communicate your content. If PBL is a play, then math or science or history or writing -- or whatever it is you teach -- sets up the scene that drives every action towards the final curtain call.
The learning stories you and your students create together make up the overall PBL unit. Be prepared, however. You'll plan and load a lot, but once you jump in, you'll find that when you leave writing learning stories to your kids, they will take them far above any book you've ever read.
